Stour Space present Lucy Dalzell's Hidden In Plain Sight
As part of Lucy Dalzell’s ongoing exploration of London’s evolving landscape, Hidden In Plain Sight brings together artworks that observe, document and playfully recreate the places and spaces we interact with, but rarely acknowledge.
Hackney Wick served as the catalyst for this ongoing body of work. Whilst living and working in the area in the years leading up to the Olympics, Dalzell started to visually document the hidden, often unnoticed pockets of the Wick, as the area rapidly evolved. This soon expanded into investigating areas going through similar transformations across London.
Hidden In Plain Sight features a responsive soundscape by artist Nuno Veiga. During the lead up to this exhibition, Veiga and Dalzell have collaborated on collecting sound pieces from the areas featured in the artworks, which have then been crafted by Veiga to create an immersive soundscape as part of the exhibition.
Private View: Thursday 5th March 2015, 7-10pm at Stour Space 7 Roach Road, Hackney Wick, E3 2PA
FREE ENTRY
Opening Times: 6th - 30th March 2015, 9am-5pm

Impossible presents: 8 x 8 - featuring: Alison Mosshart / Scout Willis / Chuck Grant / Kate Bellm / Paulina Srys / Elegia / Andrew Millar / Oli
Impossible has selected the eight artists from the USA, and Europe and challenged them to create eight pictures using the Instant Lab with any of Impossible’s color or b&w 600 or SX-70 films.
The artists that have been invited by Impossible to contribute their work to the limited, three-day exhibition at The Hoxton Gallery in London featuring Alison Mosshart (US) (The Kills) // Scout Willis (US) // Chuck Grant (US) // Kate Bellm (UK) Paulina Surys (POL) // Elegia (UK) // Andrew Millar (UK) // Oliver Blohm (DE)
The idea of 8 x 8 was inspired by the fact that each pack of Impossible film has just eight photos.
Impossible has always taken an innovative approach to analog photography, exerting an influence on visual culture that is greater than the relatively small size of the company and successfully shifting popular taste from the virtual to the visceral with a wide range of color and b&w films for Polaroid SX-70, 600 and Image-Spectra cameras, large-format 8x10, and its own-branded hardware, notably the Instant Lab Universal.
8 x 8 takes place at The Hoxton Gallery, London E2 and is open to the public from 20th February for just three days.
The Hoxton Gallery, The Arch, 9 Kingsland Road, London, E2 8AA
Opening hours: 12pm – 7pm, Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd Feb

The S.A.D launch by studio C&C, in association with Protein, will provide a refuge for those suffering from the ever present winter affliction that is S.A.D. With tropical-themed cocktails courtesy of Absolut vodka and Olmeca Altos being served live on the opening night, you’re sure to beat the winter blues.
The event will feature S.A.D SKY a site specific lighting installation by environmental design consultants Max Fordham. SOFT LIFE/HARD NITES: Charlie Roberts (USA) solo exhibition at Atomica Gallery
Atomica Gallery is proud to present SOFT LIFE/HARD NITES, a solo exhibition of new works from visionary American artist Charlie Roberts (b.1984). Opening 19th February 2015 at Atomica Gallery in London, SOFT LIFE/HARD NITES will be Roberts’ debut UK exhibition.
A creative polymath currently in an open and expansive period of working, Roberts has only revealed a snippet of his work for SOFT LIFE/HARD NITES; a series of colourful female portraits and the by-line “travel pictures from both the physical and virtual worlds”. Passport photos or casual holiday snaps? The identities of his powerful subjects are unknown, but like all of Robert’s work, they stir immediate intrigue and infatuation.
The rest of the exhibition will remain a mystery until the opening night. Roberts is excited by this challenge; generating pieces under self-imposed pressure, without restriction or expectation. He feels his best output is realised within this environment.
Every single painting, drawing or sculpture Roberts produces holds its own autonomous, magical world. Executed with inimitable energy and dextrous technique, Roberts uses a wide range of materials to create compelling and often humorous narratives; wooden totem poles, tribal carvings, incredibly detailed canvases and simple abstract sketches. The result is always raw, bewitching and utterly joyful.
The unsung hero of modern naïve-style art, Roberts is a true pioneer whose style has paved the way for a new generation of contemporary illustrators. Currently living on the outskirts of Oslo in the Norwegian forest, he is virtually off-the-grid, with no online presence whatsoever. A rare thing when instant gratification via social media is so easily achieved. SOFT LIFE/HARD NITES presents a special opportunity to view new works by one of today’s most exciting young artists.
