This August, Tel Aviv-based artist Know Hope made his solo debut at Lazarides Rathbone with a new exhibition, The Abstract and The Very Real.
Addressing the human condition and its collective social existence through a series of unique works and a site-specific installation, the exhibition questions the ubiquitous notion of the "abstract and the very real", the weight and burden of which though universally apparent is often unidentifiable to most.
Appropriating found objects, vintage frames and old papers, Know Hope filled the exhibition with assemblages that visually embody abstract concepts of memory and temporality. Reclaimed materials will came together breaking free from the confines of canvas or frame, his archetypal character crawling from one to the next with the frames representing the empty spaces in our lives and our undying struggle to fill them.
Continuing his examination of the various things that stand between us – the borders, fences, flags and walls that dictate our lives – the artist draws parallels with the collective human condition, interpreting them as an emotional mechanism. The political implications of these objects are intended to trigger feelings of separation and our begrudging acceptance of such universally experienced forces of segregation within quotidian existence.

Artcrank London 2013
ARTCRANK is a show of bicycle-inspired poster artwork that introduces people to talented local artists and sends them home with affordable, original works of art. Since their 2007 debut in Minneapolis, they’ve held shows in bike-lovin’ cities like Portland, San Francisco, New York, Austin and Los Angeles. This will be their fourth show in London.
They’ll be keeping the crowds refreshed with beer by Dark Star Brewing and EPO coffee by Paniagua, courtesy of Look Mum No Hands. Lezyne and Colorplan Papers are also kicking in to help them celebrate bikes and local artists. And they’re supporting Otesha Project UK, a nonprofit organization that uses cycling to empower young people from all backgrounds to take the lead in creating this change for themselves, their community and the wider world. #BOMBTHEBOX at Boxpark - Week 3
Building up hype, Bomb The Box finished week 3 last Sunday with Swedish graffiti artists Skil & Kaos. Due to lack of legal spaces to paint graffiti in Sweden (only one to be exact) the guys have learned to paint quickly and were super keen to paint live in London with complete freedom. Painting since the late 80's, their style is classic and 'old school.'
With 3 weeks left, this Sunday brings Dizer and Yome from France to take over the box. What was supposed to be the final week on the 8th with Wais and Trun fro Russia, will now include extra special guests to be announced on the day, as the TAD crew have not been granted the visa to come over.

Spraying Bricks - Episode 10 - CONOR HARRINGTON
Irish born, East London based artist Conor Harrington is one of the most acclaimed artists of today. Fusing a mixture of historical and modern techniques Conor's large scale paintings are adored across the globe. Originally from Cork, Conor's early work was heavily influenced by graffiti and taking to the streets but as time has moved on he has developed and matured to one of the most respected artists and painters of our time with shows taken place in galleries such as Lazarides and Stolen Space in London stretching as far as to galleries in LA, New York and South Korea.
Spraying Bricks had been fortunate enough to have joined Conor in East Dulwich where they caught up with him painting this large mural prior to the Dulwich Art Fair. The mural depicts the scene of two men of power on opposing sides 'squaring up' as if ready to fight. The mural took Conor two days to complete and is still standing to see in the flesh.

AnyForty Vesus Volumes Preview Launch Party at Roktic
The first Chapter is set to be released on Wednesday August 28th, and to celebrate the new format, they have teamed up with cult Brick lane based store and their newest stockists Roktic, to throw a party that showcases each of the 7 artists involved in the new collection and there personal work. VNA 23 London Launch Party

Jack Stocker's Minimal Sneaker Study Exhibition
When studying in design subjects a huge aspect of the courses involve looking at other artists/designers work whether you like them or not, which is how these designs being held in the Exposure gallery came about. Jack has a huge interest in fashion and trainers which he often illustrates when designing, but this time it was a case of being unique. After analysing Paul Huxley’s basic shapes and how they work together he applied a similar technique with a series of original Nike trainers released before 2000. Jack took apart the basic elements of a trainer and illustrated it in the way he sees the trainer when you think about the idea of basic shapes used within.
These 6 framed pieces are one off signed pieces by the artist that are all available for sale. In September Jack goes on to take the Art Foundation Course held and Brighton and Hove City College for 1 year.

#BombtheBox @ Boxpark Shoreditch
Last Thursday a crowd gathered with anticipation around BOXPARK to watch renowned UK Graffiti Artist, Aroe spray 'Bomb The Box' on the shipping container outside Shoreditch High Street Station. Opening the live graffiti project that began over the weekend, the night featured an open art exhibition with work from the 6 graffiti crews involved, and music from Shorebitch DJ's.
#BombTheBox started on Sunday 4th August and will run each Sunday for six weeks. The 'box art' will stay for the entire week, until the next 2 artists take over the installation to 'Bomb The Box' the following Sunday.

ABOVE "Timing Is Everthing' Stencil Piece in London
It took nearly 7+ months for Above searching the streets at night for a fixed shadow that was positioned perfectly against a wall. The break dancer stencil comes to life at night. I am attracted to the concept that the stencil and it's context can change literally from day to night. Timing is everything!

ICARUS_13; The second instalment from The Hanger One Project follows on from the initial project featuring 45RPM and a Learjet, this time we had to up the game...and this attempt was certainly a game upper! Hit the full screen mode when watching the video below:

Two graffiti heavy weights, going by the names of Sat One and Roids, stepped up to the challenge. Battling sleep deprivation, weather and the enormous size and scale of a Boeing 737, the two artists faced the fundamental task of working out the best way to paint a curved aluminium surface, in the wind and rain! After a few long periods of studying the confusing cylindrical shape it was time to get busy. The two artists worked day and night, fighting the weather for what seemed like a life-time, up and down on multiple pieces of access equipment, manoeuvring around the plane and the uncomfortable awareness of leaking hydraulic fluid, was not part of our 5-A-Day!
