Literature and Street Art collide in a new collaborative project commissioned by Penguin UK Books. The Penguin Street Art Series asked ten world-renowned street artists to create distinct new covers for contemporary classics, producing a bespoke edition set of contemporary fiction withan urban edge that is a must for any bookworm . Books in the series include Mohsin Hamid's The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Jonathan Coe's What a Carve up!, Nick Hornby's How to be Good and William Boyd's Armadillo.
To celebrate the publication of this series, Foyles Bookshop are hosting the very street-credible launch event. Just outside their cosy riverside bookshop at Southbank Centre, and right in the centre of the urban cultural scene, the internationally acclaimed street artists 45RPM, Ventsa and Oath will create bespoke pieces of art inspired by this literary series.
Pop down to Foyles at Southbank Centre between 2pm and 4 pm on Saturday 8th June 2013 to see the street artists in action, check out the latest Penguin design series and get a limited edition poster print, plus enjoy music specially curated by the street artists themselves.
This event is free and there's no need to book - just turn up!
