Urban Masters Shoreditch Exhibition
URBAN MASTERS is an intense urban display in a former Victorian factory in London’s trendy yet subversive Shoreditch area. "White Walls Say Nothing" Buenos Aires Street Art & Activism - Kickstarter
Buenos Aires is a complex, chaotic city. It has European style and a Latin American heart. It has oscillated between dictatorship and democracy for over a century, and its citizens have barely known political or economic stability. Throughout Buenos Aires' turbulent history, successive generations of activists and artists have taken to the streets to express themselves, through words and through art. This has given the walls a powerful and symbolic role. They have become the city’s voice.
This powerful tradition of expression in public space; of art and activism, has made the streets of Buenos Aires into a riot of colour and communication.
Stylised painted propaganda vies for attention with advertising billboards. Sprayed messages declare love for football teams, people and political ideals. Graffiti writers have tagged every wall and shutter, and in recent years street art has flourished bringing vibrant works to every corner of the city.
These layers of paint tell the story of this unique form of expression.

SheOne 'Blackatelier' Solo Show, Bristol
After a decade of traveling the globe, taking in New York, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, the Gambia and many points in between, sheOne brings his signature bold expressive strokes and highly personalised abstract over-spray to Art-el Gallery in Bristol.
Opening at 6pm on the 26th October and entitled ‘Blackatelier’, the exhibition will feature a collection of brand new works and installation pieces created whilst in residency at the gallery. The work reflects on his expansive history of mark making that is deep rooted in the era of New York subway graffiti.

Hexangle. Live art installation and print release
The final part of the “Hexangle” art project will launch on Thursday 25th October. The concept behind the project, curated by Shambala and Sickboy, was to bring six international artists together at the festival and for them to each paint one side of the giant Hexangle live art installation.
Kid Acne, Mudwig, Russell Maurice, Sickboy, Zoot and 45rpm painted the Hexangle at Shambala in August, with the whole installation limited to just three colours so that hand pulled screen prints could be produced from their work. Only 20 editions of each of the six sets of screen prints will be available on A2, 100% recycled paper and each print is numbered and signed by the artist.
“This project is unique,” said Sickboy. “A live art installation has never been replicated on a screen print before and it’s great to be working with such talented artists who produce seriously fresh artworks.”
These distinctive and limited edition prints, priced at £75 each, are now available from Shambala's new online shop. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Banunule School for Orphans in Uganda.
“This is an opportunity to own a rare and highly collectable piece of art whilst also supporting a worthy cause,” said Oliver Grassi of Shambala Festival. “It’s also a lovely way of having a little piece of Shambala at home!”

Shepard Fairey “Sound & Vision” Video
Friday night saw the opening of the long awaited Shepard Fairey exhibition Sound And Vision. This was the artist’s second London show, following a previous collaboration with Stolen Space Gallery five years ago.
I headed down on Friday to Stolen Space and joined the hundreds of other fans who patiently waited in the pouring rain to catch a glimpse of the work and the artist himself. Despite the slightly chaotic guestlist and queues, once I was inside I really enjoyed the show and the event. Shepard Fairey and DJ Z-Trip provided the soundtrack for the evening and more than made up for the long wait in the rain.

Ernest Zacharevic: Protect what's behind you Campaign
Communication agency Happiness Brussels recently collaboarted with street artist Ernest Zacharevic on a campaign for Toyota Belgium.
The 'Protect what's behind you' project saw Ernest Zacharevic invading a parking lot in Brussels (Q-Park Lepage) and confronted drivers with the dangers of maneuvering in reverse. Many car accidents happen while maneuvering in reverse. Not only cars get damaged, each year far too many children get injured or killed. This project is also an appeal to drivers to opt for rearview cameras. Check the clip below.
Jo Peel at Pitfield London
Bringing the diversity and ever-changing nature of East London indoors, Jo Peel’s exhibition will greet viewers with a stark black and white mural on the rear wall.
Collaborative products fuse shop and gallery space. Jo’s quirky architectural drawing of North Kensignton's Trellick Tower is expanded on striking monochrome wallpaper. The beautifully detailed tower drawing is also used on curved lampshades in heavy dupion silk.
For an injection of colour, luxurious square cushions are available. Three limited edition designs have been created, featuring Pitfield London’s exterior, Brick Lane’s Beigel Bake and the Tea Building on Shoreditch High Street. For an inexpensive memento, Pitfield London have produced a tea towel with the artist, displaying their concept store with trademark scroll logo in punchy neon pink.

Thursday the 18th October sees the opening of the UK’s very first OBEY Clothing pop-up store in East London Old Truman Brewery. Coinciding with the highly anticipated Shepard Fairey show ‘Sound and Vision’ showcasing at the Stolenspace gallery also in the Old Truman Brewery, the Obey store will be up and running for just over two weeks. Shepard Fairey - Sound & Visions London Exhibtion
World-renowned artist, propagandist and provocateur Shepard Fairey, is to exhibit new works in a major solo exhibition taking place at the Truman Breweries from 19th October 2012. This will be the artist’s second London show, following a previous collaboration with Stolen Space Gallery five years ago.It will feature a range of new works including mixed media paintings on canvas, works on paper, retired stencils collages, rubylith cuts, and as well as serigraphs on wood, metal and paper.
Entitled Sound and Vision, the exhibition title is taken from the David Bowie song of the same name. Bowie has been a major influence on Fairey, because he was able to master music and visual presentation with equal virtuosity. Music is an artistic medium that Fairey reveres almost more than he does visual art. He comments: “Music is visceral, but also has the additional powerful layers of the lyrics, with their content and politics, and the style, politics, and personalities of the musicians themselves. No matter how much I love art, or try to convince myself of its relevance in society, the fact remains that music is much more able to reach people’s hearts and minds.” The artist hopes to be able to induce in people, even a fraction of the emotion that hearing a new song or listening to a familiar one can evoke.
Sound and Vision, will incorporate a diverse array of mixed media works, which embody both the political and social influences on Fairey’s work, particularly that which is directly inspired by music. It is not only David Bowie, but also the Sex Pistols, Roxy Music, Gang of Four, the Clash and Metallica which have had an impact on Fairey’s work. To encourage viewers to experience an interaction between music and art, the artist will provide records from his own collection as well as customised vintage turntables to enable viewer listening. This section of the show is complemented by a display of eighty works which have the same 12x12” dimension as an LP sleeve. The artist will therefore use both sound and vision to connect with his audience.

'Beyond Mountains, More Mountains' is CANADA's first short film; an epic Italian road-trip, shot over two weeks, traveling from the mountains of Northern Italy, down to the Sicilian Island of Stromboli in the far south of the country.
Tom 'Inkfetish' Blackford Solo Show
On Thursday October 18th Tom 'Inkfetish' Blackford will be unveiling his long-awaited début solo show 'Imaginary Friends' at Blackall Studios in East London.
Imaginary Friends explores the mythologies of childhood, transporting celebrated archetypes of youth into a surreal adult world. Placing a veil of dark humour over icons of innocence makes Blackford's début an unmissable journey into a twisted world of strangely familiar characters.
Tom Blackford has worked as an artist on the streets for over a decade and has built a successful career as an illustrator and muralist. He has worked for publications such as Vanity Fair, produced work for exhibitions at the US animation powerhouses Pixar and Blue Sky Studios, whilst his graffiti has been celebrated in a host of publications from alternative lifestyle magazine Bizarre to the famous international graffiti magazine Graphotism. His passion for Japanese animation and pop culture has seen him create large murals for Manga Entertainment and grace the streets of Tokyo with his own brand of visual iconography.

The Curiosity Society at Hoxton Hotel
This first Thursday Curious Duke Gallery will be launching their first collaboration with the renowned Hoxton Hotel. Curious Duke Gallery have been given the opportunity to take over the ground floor of Hoxton Hotel to make it in to an art inspired living utopia.
The award winning Hoxton hotel is very much at home in its Shoreditch manor. With roaring fires, polished concrete, exposed brick and an eclectic mix of leather sofas it's the insiders hang out away from hustle and bustle of Hoxton, it makes a perfect setting for the Curious Duke artists. Dormice At The Outsiders, London
‘Principle 54’ is the first time Dormice have exhibited the paintings that the pair have kept for themselves rather than distribute through galleries. Dormice’s paintings are heavily influenced by the international style media and often use its high-impact cover pictures for inspiration, contrasting these images’ own augmented reality with dreamlike background vistas. In other instances Dormice transpose the sybaritic visual language of 21st century lifestyle photography into their own adaptations of iconic paintings, such as Manet’s Olympia and Déjuner sur L’Herbe. “It is intended as if Manet, for example, were alive and painting these pictures today,” says one half of Dormice, Heinrich Nicolaus. The artists’ contemporary contrasts are arresting to say the least, ret-conning the historical shock value of the original paintings.
The exhibition’s title ‘Principle 54’ refers to a clause in the artists’ own working charter. “Our ‘principle 54’ states that we should do the opposite of what we are ‘supposed to do, going against the flow, stealing from other artists and directly including their work in ours,” says Heinrich. By glorifying high fashion and the commodification of the female body, or comparing modern pornography to the erotic work of master painters, Dormice provoke the more priggish elements of the metropolitan art scene. Equally, they provide a red-blooded celebration of contemporary living. “We are just here, like animals, living the moment,” say Dormice of their work and their process which they compare with making music: spontaneous and joyful but with grooves and melodies that are not only designed to appeal, but also form idiosyncratic and memorable compositions.
