'IN IT TO WIN IT' by Andrew MacGregor

The Book Club is excited to present an exhibition by Andrew Macgregor, inspired by and taking place during the biggest sporting event London has ever seen, Directed by Liat Chen. The ground floor bar will be transformed with sports... themed installation pieces, constructed entirely out of paper. Macgregor will reference vintage Olympic posters for this project, using their iconic visual language as a foundation. The colourful handcrafted installations will be wall mounted and ceiling hung to creating a real sense of energy and drama. This is the first time The Book Club has worked with such a large scale installation 3D artist.artist.

‘Paper is my material of choice nowadays, and I have come to really appreciate its capacity to take any given form. It’s an incredibly flexible material that in recent years has taken centre stage in modern visual communication, and it’s a privilege to be a part of that.’Andrew Macgregor.

For this particular project Macgregor has drawn influence from artists such as Peter Blake who is most famously known for the sleeve he created for the Beatles album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Dabbling in pop art, his creations were often vivid and eccentric. As well as Blake, Macgregor has looked to Herbert Bayer’s art, which spanned many forms and he was considered to be the last living member of the Bauhaus art movement.

Exhibition Launch 19th JULY
