Brad Downey And AKAY at Fame Festival, Italy

This years Fame Festival 2012 in the Southern town of Grottaglie in Italy is well under way. We previously posted some of Irish artist Conor Harrington's impressive mural work in the town last month and it looks like the latest visitors to Grottaglie were Brad Downey and AKAY.

Here is what festival curator Angelo Milano had to say about the arrival of artists "Last time Brad and Akay were here for just a few days, this year we’ve had more time together, consequently, much more fun. The video was made in a old abandoned shooting range, we all felt it belonged to that place."

Case - 'Mayfair Lady' Sneak Preview

Widely recognised as one of the best photorealistic spray paint artists in the world, CASE presents a new collection of original portraits destined to enhance an international collector and fan base that already includes German President Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. Working solely with spray paint, German born artist CASE – real name Andreas von Chrzanowski – has redefined the limitations of this supposedly unwieldy medium. Combining technical expertise with a gift for subtle juxtaposition, CASE recontextualises images of beauty to challenge their everyday representation.

For this body of work the artist has taken George Bernard Shaw’s classic musical ‘My Fair Lady’ as the inspiration to expand this conceptual focus. This playful title also alludes to Urban Fine Art’s own propulsion into the highest cultural circles, and would seem a fitting tribute prior to the artists own anticipated appearance at this year’s Mayfair Garden Party on June 25th working along side Irina Zonaband.

Opening reception: 21st June 2012
On display: 22 - 30 June 2012 Curated by Shea&Ziegler

99 Mount Street - Mayfair - London - W1K 2TF

“Gin & Juice” @ Ivory & Black

Ivory & Black Soho proudly presents “Gin & Juice,” a group exhibition featuring new work by Andrew Schoultz, Cleon Peterson, James Jean, Richard Colman and Ryan Travis Christian.

The first group exhibition at Ivory & Black and the first time all of these artists are brought together in London, this marks an exciting time for the contemporary art scene. “Gin & Juice” celebrates the start of summer with fresh works from this troupe of young artists. In a visual playground, the vibrancy of these works questions the perception of the world around us. Ranging from the macabre to the playful and bright, the underlying humour in their works is a glimpse into the Californian subcultures they hail from. Steeped in dreamlike yet dark imagery, the work displays a sense of idealistic naivety but also deals with issues of sexuality, violence and disorder. June 15 – July 14, 2012 Opening Reception with the artist: Friday, April 27, 6 – 9 pm Gallery Hours: Monday – Saturday 12 – 8 pm Ivory & Black Soho - 94 Berwick Street - London W1F0QB
