Independent Australian label, Grand Scheme has launched the latest in its ongoing Artist Series, by releasing two limited edition t-shirt collaborations with Pop-Master, Ron English and the artist he anointed “Rembrandt with a spray can”, Kid Zoom.
Renowned for his subversion of popular culture, through his exploration of brand imagery and advertising, English’s signature style employs a mash-up of high and low cultural touchstones, including comic superhero mythology and totems of art history, to create a visual language of evolution.
Having meet Zoom by chance in Sydney, English took the Australian artist under his mentorship in the United States. Zoom’s work has developed to cover expressive aerosol based works incorporating highly detailed photo-realism and aggressive installation work. He is currently based in Brooklyn, New York.
Remaining true to the original artwork and the place where both these artists made their name, these limited edition t-shirts were – appropriately – launched on the streets with heavy poster campaign and this video:
