The Friends of Tony Romanoff Exhibition
Dalston as remembered by a dead academic, Whitechapel market pushed into a toilet cubicle of the Hacienda circa 1989, a high street photocopy shop with a walk through tour guided by Buckminster Fuller, the rose as a potential psychedelic catalyst. All of the works presented, and indeed the entire SAW archive, concern themselves with the time leading up to the death of Ghostly Cassette and the threshholding of imagery therein.
Featuring selected photos, reproductions and installed re stagings of events, you are invited to come up with your own version of how this might have gone down.
Private view 31st March 2011, 6 - 9pm. Show runs until the 13th Arpil 2011.

Blu — Test Loop Videos
Looks like Italian street artist BLU is working on some new stop motion animations having just released these two short animated tests, both painted in an abandoned factory where he has been trying out some new ideas. We are really liking the second test piece and can't wait to see what these clips evolve into.

Matt Sewell — Ley Lady Ley Exhibition
Ley Lady Ley represents an era when people connected with Mother Earth and worshiped the land. Men and women joined in a celebration of nature and praying to the deities. Through fertility dances in oak groves and the cycle of life, death and rebirth, the artwork for Ley Lady Ley forges a sacred bond that is all but lost in modern society. The show opens in Brooklyn with an opening reception Friday, March 11th, 2011
6:00PM - 9:00PM and the run will then run until the April 8, 2011

Felipe ‘FLIP’ Yung — ShungaPop
There are indicators that the production of erotic drawings denominated Shunga (cent. XVI) was meant exclusively for the court. It took hundreds of years for this art to be popularized and the purpose of such images were not exclusively for pleasure and visual stimulus, but also for sexual education from foreplay practices to proper hygiene. In the Western World, they would have probably been censored due to its explicit and out of proportion sexual organs.
Flip is part of Famiglia Baglione and lives in São Paulo, as cosmopolitan a city as New York and London, home to the largest Japanese population outside Japan. Due to his multiple cultural roots, the artist has great admiration and is largely influenced by the oriental culture and philosophy, a constant element in his artwork.
The exhibition features paintings executed on handmade paper originally printed in Kyoto, Japan. In a malicious way the images lacking decorum suggest paradoxes, once there is dialogue between sexual elements and childish characters and vibrant patterns.

Wall Project — Rich Mix & Havana Club
Artist Remi/Rough launched the Havana Club Wall Project with his interpretation and vision of the values that make Havana so unique. The celebrated urban artist was specially commissioned to design and paint an interior wall that runs the entire length of the Rich Mix events space.
Artists are invited to submit their entries to panel of experts, led by Remi/Rough, who will select two winning designs to feature on the Rich Mix interior wall throughout the year. The design must embody the unique and inspiring attitude that reflects the true values of the Cuban capital – humanity, spontaneity and creativity, this refreshing attitude highlighting the informality, passion and generosity of the people of Havana.
Design sketches must be submitted to Rich Mix (visualarts@richmix.org.uk) as a jpg by: March 21 with the winning wall design on show from May to August 2011. More details on project here.

Safewalls — An Introduction
We previously mentioned the Safewalls project which held the first exhibition of their twelve city tour here in London last month at the High Roller Society Gallery. The 3 Visions of Totem show saw Jon Burgerman, Sweet Toof and Glenn Anderson create daring and original alternative poster designs for Cirque du Soleil London show Totem.
The London show has now finished and the Safewalls crew have moved onto the next city where they will work with another three artists. The above video gives you an introduction as to what the project is about and also some hints as to some of the other artists they plan to work with. The crew are currently in Houston, Texas for the second city show where they will be working with Shag, El Mac and Jason Limon.
For more info and to check if they are visiting your city hit up the Safewalls website.
